On 22nd January 2007, we went on a learning journey at Fort Canning Park and Kampong Glam. The aim of this trip was to learn more about our country, Singapore.
We took a bus to Fort Canning Park. It took almost half an hour. During that period, our tour guide, Mr. Kumar, told my class more about the history of Singapore. He also showed some picture to us. He also told us that Sang Nila Utama lived on a hill!!!
After half an hour, we finally reached Fort Canning Park. Mr. Kumar took us to the spice garden first. Then, he showed us the different spices. He also told the uses of each spices and the names of it. One of them is a plant that uses it to make ice-cream!!!
After that, Mr. Kumar told us that we are going to the cemetery! He told us that Miss Ages Joaquim’s tombstone is at the there!!! But the body is at the church nearby. Mr. Kumar also told us that some people had their marriage here.
After seeing the cemetery, we went back to the bus again. We were going to the Kampong Glam. But, in the bus, Mr. Kumar told us that we were going to eat some snacks. After a while, we finally reached the stall. We bought some snacks and we went up to eat after we had paid.
After we had eaten, we headed for the oldest mosque in Singapore, Sultan Mosque. Mr. Kumar told us that we must eat or drink finish then we could go in. When I went in, I put my shoes at the shoes rack. After every one had taken his or her shoes, Mr. Kumar took us in. He had to write his name in a book before we could go in. When we went in, we found that there were no statues! Mr. Kumar then explained why there were no statues. He also told us that when the Malays do their prayers, they will be grouped into men and women. Mr. Kumar then also explained why.
After we had visited the mosque, we went to the Kampong Glam. Mr. Kumar told us that Kampong Glam is a Malay village. He introduced the things there to us. After that, we had our class photo. After that we headed back to the bus again to go back to school.

· Tundra is the world coldest places .Some scientist think tundra is formed by the most recent Ice Agee. When huge masses of ice that move very slowly melted as Earth `s climate warmed. When they melted, the glaciers eroded the land. Tundra is found at North Europe, Siberia, island in Arctic Ocean. When the ice melted, the glaciers eroded.

· The cold season of tundra is long, with temperatures falling far below freezing point. The coldest part of tundra is found at Siberia. Temperatures there can get as low as - 50 degrees Celsius, Strong wind keep blowing during the cold season. Blizzard is very common at there too. The warm season is very, very short, as it last only six to ten weeks!

· The tundra’s soil has very few nutrients to feed plants. Some plants there stay in a group. For animals, most of them are herbivore likes caribou and lemmings. There are also some carnivores like Arctic foxes.

· I like to live there as it will be lot of fun. But, I have to be careful of blizzard, as the above information told me. It will be very cold too. But at least could play snowballs.

Glossary:
Glaciers are huge masses of ice move very slowly.

Thailand
"Water-splashing"(which the Thais have refined into art) marks Songkran, the Thai New Year. The idea is for the old ills, misfortune and evil to be "washed away". There is a deeply religious strain beneath on the temple. Buddha images are rountinely bathed in scented waters; alms are offered to the monks in temples;fishes and birds are also released in temple grounds; sand is rought into temple to be set into sandcastle-all for the sake of merit making
India
Many people take Deepavali for it but seriously, the many diffrent communities on this vast sub-continent actually celebrate their individual new years. An example is the Sikh community. The Sikh celebrate Baisakhi, the birthday of their tenth guru, Gobind Singh who founded the Khalsa (The brotherhood of Sikhs) in 1699 on April 13. On Baisakhi, they visit temples, listen to religious songs after which everybody eats kada prasad, a sweetheart, a sweetmeat. In the villages, men can be seen doing Bhangra (an energetic dance) while the women, the Gidda (a graceful dance) as they get ready to harvest the corn.
Vietnam
Tet Nguyen Dan (the Lunar New Year; Tet meaning New Year) is a widely celebated festival. One interesting practice is `planting the neu'. Neu is a bamboo pole with green leaves, from which an amulet and eathern bells are hanged.Lime powder is then scattered around the base of the plant to ward off evil. All this is done in imitation of Buddha's actions in a famous legend. He was said to have used a tall magical bamboo pole to drive the devilsaway from Vietnam a long time ago.
Tibet
Tibetans usually spend New Year's eve stuffing a variety of thing rice, peas, wool, etc. into Guthuk (barley crumbs). During dinner, the filling that one bites into is supposed to tell your personality. The one who has bitten into coal is said to have a `black heart'. After this, the serious businessof banishing evil sprits begins. Bonfires are lit as people run out of their houses, yelling and shouting to rid the houses of bad spells. On the first day of Losar,(New Year) families and friends visit each other to exchange their Tashi delek blessing.
Korea
The Koreans hang up bok jo ri( straw aieves) at their doors to scoop up all the good luck at the start of Sol-nal( New Year). Then, incese and offering are laid out at the ancestors' altar. Families then put on their New Year's best- usually traditional New Year's best- usually tradidional costumes, the hanbok and proceed to Sebae. Seabae is where younger Koreans go down on their knees and bow deeply to their elders with muttered greeting and good wishes. In return, they get money, fruit or treats. After that, most children run outdoors to seesaw, fly kites and spin tops.
Japan
The celebrations for Oshogatsu (New Year) begin on the eve, when every family gathers for a meal of toshikoshi soba (buckwheat noodles) that sybolises longevity. Then at midnight, there will be the temple bell. The 108 chimes are supposed to help realese men from his his sins. The next day, special treats like otoso rice wine and ozoni (soup with mochi) are served. Games like badminton, kite flying are popuplar amongst the children.
