The phone started ringing. I ran to answer it. It was my best friend, Diana.
“Come, Clarice, come quickly to the park!” blurted Diana.
“Why do you want me to go there? I'm going to take a shower!” I answered.
“No, you must come! I got something good for you to see. Just meet me near the lake! Fast!” exclaimed Diana.
“All right! I will come!” I answered back.
I rushed to the park. I found her crouching at the edge of the lake.
Seeing that I arrived, Diana shouted, “Look, Clarice, I had found something valuable. Just now, I was sitting here admiring the scenery and I saw a briefcase out of the water. Out of curiosity, I opened it up and found out that there was gold and silver!”
“Cool! But you are not going to keep it?” I asked.
“I wish I could. There are so beautiful! But, I watched news about a shop which had many gold and silver stolen. Maybe the person who stolen them put it here. Let’s call the police!” Diana suggested.
Diana stayed at the lake while I hastened to the nearest police station. I told the officer all about it. The officers ran to the park. I showed them where the briefcase was. They sealed up the lake and took the briefcase along to check. We were relieved that we had passed the briefcase to the police.
After a few days, both of us received a cheque one thousand dollars each from the shop. Indeed, honesty is the best policy.
