Back to school!!!
Woah, it is so fast. June holiday is almost over and school is about to reopen again! After this holiday, we are going to be very busy. There are examinations after this holiday. For the P6s like me, we had P6 Prelim Oral, Listening Comprehension on July. We also had PSLE Oral, P6 Prelim papers on August. That’s for Term 3 only! Actually, I also had New South Wales on 3rd July and 17th July.
I will try harder to get good results for all my examinations. Anyway, this year is the best as I could celebrate my birthday which is on October and it is after the PSLE. Yippee! Anyway, the days to the PSLE are very short. We need to race with the time!!!
~~ THE END ~~

During the June Holiday, I had attended two workshops and I went to Genting and Ipoh. The two workshops I had attended were My Robot Pal and Grooming, Social Graces and Dining Etiquette Workshop.
Now, I am going to tell you further more about these two workshops that I had attended. For the My Robot Pal workshop, the teacher who taught me is Mr. Lee. The workshop was on 4th June till 5th June.
On the first day of it, Mr. Lee told us to form into a group of three. As there were not enough people, two of the groups had only two persons in their groups which included mine. I decided to form a group with a friend who I had just known. She was Choo Janice and she was Primary 6 too! Then, Mr. Lee told us the different part of making a robot. He told us that the most important part of the robot is the Robotics Command System which is also called the RCX. He told us that the RCX is a microcomputer built into a LEGO brick. It uses sensors (such as Light and Touch) to tell us what it find in its environment. The commands that we gave will tell the RCX which motors to turn on and off in response to the sensors. We used the Robotics Invention System 2.0 software to create a program for robot in RCX code. The RCX code is a LEGO programming language that uses building block commands. We also use the IR transmitter to download the program to the RCX. The robot we made was the Roverbot and Acrobot.
I like this My Robot Pal workshop very much. I had made a lot of friends. I not only learn how to make a robot, I also found out how important teamwork is to make a robot.
On 6th June and 7th June, I attended the Grooming, Social Graces and Dining Etiquette workshop. The teacher is Miss Audrey Quek. She is the Miss Singapore Universe in 1999 and Miss World Fuqing in 2000! She was also a Principal Image Consultant. On the 1st day, she taught us how to create a first and lasting impression, make an effective introduction, what our clothes say about us, our image destroyers, visual poise and posture, personal grooming and hygiene. But before she teach us all these, we played musical chairs. The one who is out must come out to introduce themselves. We must say our name, school, age, level, hobbies, something special about ourselves and what do we expect to learn in this 2 days workshop. I was the last 4 to come out to introduce myself. It was really fun.
Miss Audrey Quek then told us to try to remember all the names and try to make friends with each others as she is going to play Whacko after the break. After that, it was the tea break. We went to another room and have some hot Milo and hot dog bun. Then, I found out that Janice and her sister were also in this workshop! I tried to make friend with all of them. I also made friends with Jasmine, Joanne and many other people.Soon after, the break is over and we went back to the room. Miss Audrey Quek played Whacko with us for about half an hour. She then taught us about the impression. She told us the first impression is made within 10-30 seconds. She also told us the part of the first impression. She then told us how to impress people at the first sight. After that, Miss Audrey Quek told us the Image Destroyers for girls which included messy hair and stained teeth. She also told us about the Image Destroyers for men. Miss Audrey Quek also told us to put our best foot forward. She also told us what our clothes said about us examples of clothes with obscene words or pictures said that we were lack of moral character. She told us the different themes clothes we could wear. There were Natural, Romantic and Classic.
“YOU ARE WHO YOU ARE AND YOUR DRESS SIZE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR FAILURE AND SUCCESS AS A PERSON”
Then, it is lunch time. We had chicken rice for lunch. Then, Miss Audrey Quek taught us about Visual Poise and Posture. This is very important as it tells about our attitude, our values, professionalism and underlying states of mind. She also told us the 8 secrets to a crowing Glory. This is the end of the 1st day of the workshop. For the day 2 of the workshop, Miss Audrey Quek starts with telling us about Manners and Etiquette. She taught us about telephone manners and E-mail Etiquette. She also told us to mind our Ps &Qs which is punctuality, personal questions, privacy and Thank You. Then, she taught us about dining etiquette. She showed us the Chinese Table Layout and the Western Table Layout. She then told us course by course. Then, it’s time for lunch! This time we went to Lion City Hotel to have our lunch. The purpose of this is to practice our dining etiquette. After the lunch, Miss Audrey Quek taught us how to be a party host and Party Guest. She also tells us the different gifts that we can give our Chinese, Muslim and Indian friends. It’s time for the Graduation party. We must walk to Miss Audrey Quek in our best to get our certificate. Then, it’s the end of the workshop.
Now, I am going to tell you the trip I went to Genting and Ipoh. I went there for 4 days 3 nights. It was on 31st May till 3rd June. On 31st May, I woke up at 4.30a.m. just to catch the bus!!! I went with my relatives. I had lots of fun there.
On 15th June, I went to my grandma's house to make dumplings as next Tuesday(19th June) is dumplings festival. We used 6kg of meat, 8kg of rice and we made 156 dumplings!!! There were vegetarian dumplings and meat dumplings! Yum!
