POEMS TIME
7 Days a week
On Monday I feel really good
For I am off to school like every child should
Tuesday is when I get to learn gymnastics
I can swing from one bar to the other
And it feels really fantastic!
On Wednesday I attend language class
I want to do well and pass
Thursday is best of all
I can get a chance to play football
Friday is when I learn to play a trumpet
It is also a day when I can play with my pets
Saturday I wake up at dawn
Today I am helping daddy mow the lawn
Sunday! Oh great! My parents are taking me to a movie
We are also going to have a picnic by the sea
Singapore River
She cuts through the heart of Singapore
The Singapore River at night is so pretty!
The centre for commerce and trade for many decades
Our love for the Singapore River will never fade
Easily recognizable at the mouth of the river is a
Statue of a half-fish, half-lion
This mythical beast is named……
Merlion
As we walk along the river
We recall many fond memories
For here is where we courted and pledged that our
Affection for each other will never cease
Hugging the sides of the river are Clarke Quay and Boat Quay
Here is where we lunched, dined or sipped on
local flavored tea
Yesterday, we could see sailors and coollies
godowns and shophouses
Today, we see trendy restaurants and bars, and ladies
Dressed in fancy dresses and colourful blouses
The Singapore River has shaped our destinies
Here is where we can be imaginative and fancy-free
This river is also our haunt to write poetry
For the Singapore River has a breath taking view
That always seems to beckon us
C.H.I.L.D.R.E.N
C is for how Cute we are
The glow in our eyes
That is as shining as an evening star
H is for the Happiness that we bring
Our love that makes them smile and sing
Iis for the beautiful Identity that we bear
The affection that we are always willing to share
L is for the Love that we show
The devotion that continues to grow
D is for how Delicate we can be
The softness of our faces,
Our small little hands
And other features that are plain to see
R is for the Reason parents are happy when we are born
For with us by their side, their worries will be gone
E is for the Excitement that we draw
The delight that we bring
When we roll and crawl on the floor
N is for Nice things that we do
The boundless affection that is inborn in us
